Ex-Quantity Surveyor. Mum of two children. Works three days a week for the Almshouses. Started as Clerk in 2009 and loves her job!


Linda Ainscough

Linda has lived in Saffron Walden since 1988. She was previously practice manager at Borough Lane Surgery (now Crocus Medical Practice). Linda has a strong background in finance, having been a chartered accountant for many years.   

Daphne Cornell

Daphne has lived in the town all her life. She is a past Town Mayor, served on the District Council for 23 years, a lifelong member of the Labour Party, and is still involved with the Saffron Walden Day Centre, Mencap, and is an active member of Tenant Forum at Uttlesford District Council. Daphne is passionate about caring for local people and social housing.

Malcolm Domb

Malcolm has been a Trustee since November 2010; living locally since 1995. Recently retired Waitrose Branch Manager, he is now Volunteer Co-ordinator of Uttlesford Foodbank, volunteer photographer for St Clare Hospice and on Saffron Walden Golf Club Charity Committee. Malcolm is an Arsenal Season Ticket Holder, keen golfer and enjoys  travelling.

Mike Hibbs

Mike is an Architect in private practice in Saffron Walden. He is also a Town Councillor, a Director of the Saffron Walden Community Interest Company, a Trustee of the Saffron Walden Youth Outreach Project and Area President for St John Ambulance. Mike serves on the Fabric Committee.

Diana Hoy

Retired lawyer. Past Chair of Governors, Church Council, Chair of Uttlesford Citizens Advice Bureau, Uttlesford Development Group. As well as Saffron Walden Almshouses, Diana is currently a trustee of several grant-making Trusts including British & Foreign School Society and the Legacy East Almshouse Partnership.

Barbara Hughes

Following a career in nursing, Barbara retired early in order to read Modern History at university. After graduating, her work as a volunteer car driver for East Anglian Ambulance Service brought her into contact with many Almshouse residents, and gave her an insight into their difficulties. Barbara became both a Town and District Councillor in 2003 and was nominated to become an Almshouse Trustee by the Town Council. Since that term ended she has remained a co-opted member of the Board. Barbara has lived in Uttlesford most of her life, and in Saffron Walden itself since 1971.

Richard Roberts

Since moving to Saffron Walden with his family in the mid-1980s Richard has been involved in various community groups. He is a Chartered Surveyor and lives in the centre of town.

Donna Sharp

Private computer tutor, with special interest and expertise in assisting and supporting the elderly. Started, and published for 12 years, the Saffron Walden Directory. Founder member of Saffron Walden Initiative.

Joanne Stone

Worked in University IT before moving to Saffron Walden in 1991. Has been a governor at two local schools and volunteers with charities in Saffron Walden and London. The Almshouses are a national movement with significant local impact and she is pleased to have joined the Charity in 2013.
