Q: I am having difficulty in completing my application form, where can I get help?
A: If you are experiencing problems with your form please contact the Clerk in the office, who will be happy to help.
Q: I live a long way from Saffron Walden, and have no connection with the area. I like the look of the Almshouses - would I be able to apply?
A: Unfortunately all applicants need to live in the area or have a strong connection with it. If you contact the Almshouse Association they will be able to advise you of Almshouses closer to you.
Q: How do you decide who is in the greatest need?
A: We assess needs by considering the information you give us on the form and during a home visit or interview.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Unfortunately no pets are allowed on-site.
Q: Do you have parking on-site?
A: We have very limited parking on-site. There are a few allocated spaces and a few visitors' spaces. Parking is available in Swan Meadow car park which is less than a 5 minute walk away.
Q: Do you provide care?
A: We do not provide any care for our residents. All residents need to be able to live independently. Obviously this may change as the resident gets older, at which point the family will be asked to arrange for a care package for the person.
Q: I have savings so will I be eligible for an Almshouse?
A: It depends on the level of savings. If you are able to purchase a property rather than rent, you will not be eligible.
